Playing with the ALPHA net card is a joy. I'm using Linux / Ubuntu and the aircrack-ng package. To install the package in Ubuntu. Open a terminal window. Type sudo apt-get install aircrack-ng. To place the net card in monitor mode type airmon-ng start wlan1 (wlan1 = the net card). If you run a ifconfig you should find a mon0 device and everything is ok. To run wireshark type sudo wireshark and it starts. Good luck.
